Mamoni — The Teacher of All Teachers in My Life
On this Teachers’ Day, my heart turns first to the greatest teacher life has ever given me — my mother, my beloved Mamoni.
There have been many teachers throughout my journey, each enriching my life with knowledge and wisdom. But before I knew what a classroom was, before I opened my first book, and before I understood the meaning of a teacher, Mamoni had already begun teaching me the most important lessons of life.
That is why, for me, Mamoni is the Teacher of All Teachers in my life. She is the one whose teachings have shaped not just what I know, but who I am.
My first classroom was her arms.
My first lesson was her love.
My first understanding of safety came from holding her hand.
And my first experience of compassion came from her heart.
Since the day I was born, Mamoni has held my hand and protected me through every stage of life. As a child, her hands protected me from the world; as I grew older, her wisdom taught me how to face that world myself.
And even today, that motherly care never changes.
Whenever I am unwell, she is the first person to ask, “Have you taken your medicine?” Whenever a problem comes into my life, she wants to know what has happened. Whenever I face uncertainty, her words carry the prudence, affection and wisdom that only a mother can give.
Perhaps this is the greatest form of teaching.
A teacher prepares us for lessons, but a mother prepares us for life.
Mamoni taught me patience without giving lectures on patience. She taught me compassion by showing compassion. She taught me courage by standing beside me during difficult moments. She taught me prudence through her advice and taught me humanity through the way she has loved, cared for and protected me throughout my life.
Her greatest lessons were never written on a blackboard.
They were written in her sacrifices, her sleepless worries, her prayers, her affection, her protective hands and her unconditional love.
The older I become, the more deeply I understand that motherhood itself is one of life’s greatest schools, and a mother’s heart is one of its greatest classrooms.
Teachers have taught me subjects.
Life has taught me experiences.
But Mamoni taught me how to become a human being.
She is not merely a teacher in my life — she is the teacher from whom the deepest lessons of my life began, and the teacher whose lessons continue to guide me every day.
I believe mothers are God’s ambassadors on Earth. Through a mother’s hands, we first experience protection. Through her heart, we discover unconditional love. Through her sacrifices, we understand selflessness. And through her guidance, we learn how to walk through life.
On this Teachers’ Day, my deepest pranam goes to you, Mamoni.
Thank you for holding my hand from the moment I entered this world.
Thank you for protecting me when I could not protect myself.
Thank you for worrying about me even when I say, “I am fine.”
Thank you for correcting me with affection, guiding me with prudence and loving me without conditions.
And above all, thank you for being the teacher whose lessons have shaped my entire life.
For me, Mamoni is the Teacher of All Teachers — the one whose love taught me my first lessons, whose wisdom continues to guide me, and whose teachings will remain with me for the rest of my life.
