Bapi — My First Teacher, My Forever Guide
On Teachers’ Day, I remember the greatest teacher of my life — my Bapi.
For me, a teacher was never just someone who taught from books or stood in front of a classroom. My greatest teacher was the man who taught me how to live, how to stand tall, how to speak the truth, and how to remain human in every situation.
That man was my Bapi.
He is no longer with us, and there are days when his absence feels unbearably heavy. I still wish I could sit beside him, hear his voice, share my thoughts with him, and ask him what I should do when life becomes difficult.
But perhaps that is the greatest gift a true teacher leaves behind.
He may have left this world, but his lessons never left me.
Bapi taught me about every aspect of life — not through long lectures, but through his own actions, his principles and the way he lived. He taught me that truth should never be compromised, no matter how difficult the circumstances are.
He gave me the courage to speak the truth when silence would have been easier.
He taught me to stand up for what is right, even when standing alone.
He taught me that kindness is not weakness, that compassion is not a burden, and that no achievement in life is greater than being a good human being.
Today, whenever I face a difficult situation, I find myself returning to the values Bapi gave me. His principles have become my strength. His courage has become my courage. His voice has become a quiet voice within me, reminding me to choose the right path.
I miss him. More than words can ever express.
There are moments when I wish I could tell him how much his teachings mean to me. I wish I could tell him that the values he planted in me are still alive, still guiding me, still shaping the person I am trying to become.
Bapi, you gave me something that time can never take away.
You gave me your principles.
And I carry them with pride.
Your absence has taught me the pain of losing someone I love, but your life has taught me the strength to keep moving forward.
You taught me to have courage.
You taught me to have compassion.
You taught me to speak the truth.
You taught me to respect humanity.
And most importantly, you taught me to be a human being before being anything else.
On this Teachers’ Day, I don’t just remember you.
I bow to you.
Because you were not only my father.
You were my first teacher, my strongest pillar, my moral compass, and my forever guide.
Bapi, wherever you are, I hope you know that your lessons are still alive in me.
I will continue to walk with the values you gave me.
I will continue to speak the truth.
I will continue to stand with courage.
I will continue to choose humanity.
And as long as I live, a part of you will live through me.
