My Independence Day Pledge: From a Billion Dreams to Global Sporting Glory
This Independence Day, I make a deeply personal pledge to my nation—not merely as a statement, but as a commitment to contribute to building a New Sporting India.
India is a nation of more than a billion dreams. Across our villages, small towns, tribal communities, schools, colleges and cities, countless young boys and girls possess extraordinary sporting talent. Yet, too often, that talent remains undiscovered—not because the ability is missing, but because the right scouting, scientific assessment, development pathways and opportunities are not reaching every child.
I believe this must change.
My dream is to contribute to building a nationwide, technology-driven and scientifically structured sporting talent scouting ecosystem that can identify potential at the grassroots, nurture it with the right coaching and sports science, and create a clear pathway from the playground to the podium, from local competition to the global arena.
This vision is deeply connected with the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
An Atmanirbhar sporting nation cannot depend only on importing talent-development models, expertise or technology. We must build our own ecosystem—Indian talent, Indian coaches, Indian sports scientists, Indian technology, Indian data and Indian institutions working together, while learning from the best practices of the world.
We must use AI, data analytics, biomechanics, neuroscience, sports medicine and performance technology to discover potential that traditional scouting may overlook.
Every talented child should have the opportunity to be measured, mentored, trained and given a pathway to excellence.
But this is not only about winning medals.
It is about nation-building.
Sport can create confidence, discipline, leadership, employment, health and social transformation. It can give a young person a purpose and give a community a reason to believe. It can take the story of India from the grassroots to the world’s greatest sporting arenas.
Our billion dreams should not remain dreams.
They must become possibilities.
Possibilities must become opportunities.
Opportunities must become excellence.
And excellence must become India’s global sporting strength.
I envision an India where a child in a remote village can be discovered because of talent—not because of geography or privilege.
An India where a young athlete does not have to abandon a sporting dream because the right coach, facility or scientific support is unavailable.
An India where parents proudly encourage their children to pursue sport as a serious pathway to excellence.
An India where our sporting ecosystem creates not only champions, but also coaches, trainers, sports scientists, analysts, entrepreneurs, administrators and thousands of new opportunities for our youth.
And ultimately, an India that stands confidently among the world’s leading sporting nations—not as a participant, but as a creator, innovator and global sporting powerhouse.
This is my Independence Day pledge:
To help build a Sporting India that discovers every talent, empowers every dream and creates pathways to global excellence.
From a billion dreams to a billion possibilities.
From grassroots talent to global champions.
And from dreaming of sporting greatness to making it a reality.
This is not just my dream. This is my commitment to India.
Jai Hind!
