My Heart Believes in Football, My Soul Believes in India
On this World Football Day, I speak not just as a lover of the game, but as someone whose belief in football comes from the deepest corners of my heart and soul.
I have always believed that football is perhaps the greatest enabler humanity has ever created — a language beyond words, beyond borders, beyond geopolitics. It is a force that connects people to people, hearts to hearts, irrespective of caste, creed, religion, culture, or nationality. A football does not ask where you come from; it only asks how passionately you dream.
As a football philosopher and a dreamer, I have carried one conviction within me for years: in a nation of over 1.5 billion people, we have not run out of talent — we have simply abandoned too many dreams. Across villages, towns, schools and forgotten corners of our country, countless young boys and girls carry football in their hearts. They do not need miracles; they need belief. They need encouragement. They need a pathway.
I dream of an India that chooses to see these children, nurture them and stand beside them. I dream that within the next five years, our young footballing aspirants will rise, break barriers, and showcase their talent on the global stage with pride and purpose.
This is not merely my dream. It is my pledge to the nation — a promise that I will continue to believe in the power of football as a force for change, continue to fight for young talent, and continue to build pathways for those whose dreams often remain unseen.
Believe in our children. Believe in football. Believe in dreams.
Because when we give hope a chance, football can become much more than a sport — it can become a movement that unites a nation and inspires generations.
