My Father, My Best Teacher – A Teachers’ Day Reflection
Teachers’ Day has always been a moment to pause, to remember, and to honor those who shape lives not just through lessons in books, but through the values they live by. For me, this day has always carried a deeply personal meaning—because my very first and best teacher was my father.
In his early years, he was a respected teacher, admired for the knowledge he imparted and the integrity with which he carried himself. But for me, the most profound lessons he gave were not confined to classrooms or textbooks—they were woven into everyday life. He imbibed in me the broadness of mind, the openness to embrace diverse thoughts, and above all, the philosophy that being a good human being is the greatest achievement one can strive for.
Even though he has now left us for another world, his presence continues to guide me every single day. In moments of doubt, I recall his calmness. In times of challenge, I remember his strength. And in every interaction, I try to carry forward his lesson of kindness, humility, and respect. His teaching was never about ambition alone—it was about humanity. His presence continues to shape my days. In every decision I make, in every challenge I face, I hear his voice reminding me: “Be a good human being first. The rest will follow.”
On this Teachers’ Day, while the nation celebrates the gurus and mentors who shape destinies, I celebrate my Bapi—my father—who will forever remain my greatest teacher. He was not only my guide in childhood but continues to be my friend, philosopher, and the eternal guiding force of my existence.
You live within me, not as a memory that fades, but as a living light that grows brighter each day.
Teachers are remembered for the knowledge they give; fathers like him are remembered for the lives they inspire.
